Here's Mohamed - A PSU Champion!

“ Living in Malaysia as a young Somali refugee boy it's really hard and it comes with its own circumstances and its own privilege.” Mohamed always says he is really lucky to have come across Project Stand Up and be part of this mission of bettering the lives of students, that is a dream for both boys and girls. Mohamed has lived in Malaysia for the past 11 years, he was only 6 years old when he first started school and now is a graduate from Fugee school (refugee learning center ).  His journey started with the passion for equal education for all no matter gender age and statues. 

The Project Stand Up Champion Education Program was designed by youth for youth to provide a fun and valuable learning experience. Our vision is to see more young people, particularly girls, speak up and participate in decision making and initiating solutions to issues that matter most to them.  We call them Champions!

“I find Project Stand Up is the best platform for me to express my feeling for better education for all. My statutes as a refugee shouldn't stop me from getting an education.

Project Stand Up taught me how to use my inner power to make a change within my community, and is something that needs skill and experience, I didn't know what I would do with my power if it wasn't for Project stand up.”

Mohamed was the most influential Champion among his team, his passion for changing the mindset of his community made him the most respected and well-known Champion.  Being in that stage he is using his power to make a change and being a role model for his fellow boys at the same age as him. Mohamed continues to be a PSU champion by volunteering with the team.
